    M30 or S52?

Would you rather swap an M30 or an S52 in your E30? Why? What are the pros/cons of each swap? Thanks in advance guys.

Do you know how to use the Search feature? The pros/cons of each engine swap have been debated ad naseum. Do some searching, do some reading. Then if you have a specific question, go ahead and ask it. But this kind of basic, general information has been beaten to death over and over.

What makes you say that? And yes i'm considering it in the future, not anytime soon though. Hopefully within the next 2-3 years.

Yes I know how to use the search feature, I couldn't find anything comparing the two directly. Thanks for your 2 cents bud...

Sometimes I find it easier to search r3v when I enter my question via Google and put r3v at the end. "M30 vs s52 r3v"

s52... more modern, lots of parts, reliable, and and more power. can't go wrong with that.

I would say the real answer depends on what you want out of the car. Both swaps have their pros and cons, and those lists will be different for different people.

I have an m30 swapped car. I love the fact that it is a period correct engine, running the original m20 engine harness, utilizing mostly used, easily accessible parts, and can be completed for under $1000 if you are thrifty.

Would an s52 blow the doors off of my car? Absolutely, but I am fine with that trade off.

dont find many s52's up here in the great white north.
If you can find them go for it i suppose.
I chose an m30 for my swap.

It is true though - apples vs. oranges.

low budget, short time line = m30
high budget, lots of time = s52

in either case, refresh/rebuild as much as you can while it's out and easy to work on.

                        that's the funnest M30 VS s52...

                        here's a 6 page discussion over the M30 vs S52 debate.
I created the thread last year when I was engine shopping.

I opted for M30, because i'm a bit of a period correctness purist, and I'm not a hooner. Plus I like my gobs of torque.
