    M20 to M40 Swap Help

Hey so I'm new to all this engine swap business but I was looking for some help on swapping out my stock m20 engine from an 87 coupe to a 1997 318i engine. I've seen posts but its usually the other way around...the e36 engine is complete with engine, transmission, harness, ecu etc..
Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

For better gas mileage basically. I'm not looking for anything else from it.

I have several e30s with different engines. M42, M20 and M30. Getting about the same mileage between all of them. I think your money would be better spent on maintenance. If you're set on doing it, nobody will stop you. Good luck!

Would be easier to sell the car you've got & buy a 4 cylinder unless your car is super clean and impossible to find another in similar condition.

The m20b27. I was hoping for maybe a guide with what parts your going to need to replace to accommodate the engine instead of asking a ton of questions .

m40 or m44? ... I doubt either will get much better fuel economy than an b27 in good order
