Harnness off a manual? Since it's fresh in your mind, now would be a good time to share everything you had to do wiring wise...

We ended up being able to use the M30 harness too, pretty sweet.
How many M30 E30s will be at Bimmerfest?

I don't have the resources to make my own. What would you recommend?
Is there anyone on the board that can do this? ('86 325es + '86 535i M30)

I waited 3 months(either never sent or lost in the mail) - then asked for them to be fedex 4-5 days air from the homeland - Dino at e30.de blew be off. Not a good transaction at all.

The chepest way to send something form germany to the states is Via DHL - DHL picks up in deutschland and ships it overseas - then intergates with the USPS and is delivered to you. *But* none of the tracking numbers work - it's a crap shoot.

Dino said he would never ship to the US again

M3 Ryan and I built our own...

I'm as low as you can ever get to the subframe - and as far back as you can with out cutting. Only handeling difference is the flat TQ curve you don't expect in the wet - that is with the AC removed..

    ....

    Hope that helps...

How do you get the timing right on the M30? Theres no mark on the head, do you just eyeball it? I know i have it close, how did you guys do it?

Here is the chart for an 86 325e. Items in Blue are additions after 1987

    Pin What it Does (Color)
    1 Alternator Charge Indicator (Blue)
    2 Oil Level (Static) (Gn/Y)
    3
    4 Coolant Temp Sensor (Br/V)
    5 Oil Pressure (Br/Bk)
6 Voltage With Ignition ON (Fused) (Gn/W)
7 Voltage With Ignition ON (Not Fused) (Green)
    8 Idle Control (W/Gn)
    9 Engine Speed (Black)
    10 Oil Level (Dynamic) (Blue)
    11 Service Reset (W/Bl)
    12 DME Control/Engine Plug (Gray)
    13 Fuel Pump Relay (V/Rd)
    14 Speedometer for OBC (Bk/W)
    15 Starter Unloader (Bk/Gn)
    16 Airbag
    17
    18 Voltage While Starting (Bk/Y)
    19
    20 Ground (Br)

    86 325e C104 connector in glove box

    Pin What it Does (Color)
    1 Engine Speed (Black)
2 Fuel Cut Code for OBC (Gn/Rd)
3 Fuel Rate for MPG Gauge (Y/W)

This is all taken out of the ETMs, I noticed one of the wires is a different color in my car, but it should be the same thing. I also learned that the 7series plug (X20) has mostly different colors but they all do the same thing, so no pins are needed to be moved around! Only need to rewire the c104 connectors.

Joe, can you email me the chart? (or post)
I am working on the C101 pinout for the 88 635. Proving to be a PITA.

    I would like a chart.
I would also like to know about the motor mounts. ('86 535i M30) I'm thinking about taking some vacation in June and doing the swap then, but I kinda need ALL the parts to do it. I have some, and am collecting more, but I want to have 95% of everything to cut down on running to and from the store, or having to wait while something gets shipped in.

Well after looking thru all 400 pages of the ETMs for my 88 735i and 86 325e, I found exactly what every single wire does in the C101 connector and the C104.

If anyone wants a chart of this let me know :)

The E34 M30 5 speed is somewhat rare as only 5 percent of them came with the manual transmission.

I'm lucky enough to have 2! One that I drive, and one that is having the driveline put in the E30 convertible.

Joe, you have another customer for the M30B35 (E34) mounts when you get em done. Waiting anxiously.

PS: This is an awesome thread.
