Go a spair crank position sensor you could try? It almost sounds like you have a short or broken wire in the sensor wire, and it starts, then rattels it's self disconected - just a shot in the dark.

Funk, any word on the mount arms?

Your problem sounds like the afm to me. Would'nt your stock one work with this motor? People do the 027 m30 afm on the m20, and you used the m20 harness right? See if you could swap it out. Also check your intake boot, as Funk said.

    Castrol super clean for grime.

Navel rust Jelly for rust(Don't get any of it on aluminum parts)

Mineral spirts for prep - use quality paint or you'll regret it. Also - tell any one that works on your car no to spray carb cleaner or the like on or around your motor - it caused the paint to run. You can easily drop $150 in paint and misc to clean up a motor.

Seriously. Nice work so far. Hey, OT, but how should I go about cleaning off surface rust and grime from my block/head so I can paint it up?

    Thanks.

Here is a vid of my 335 almost starting. Excuse the monkey noises.

I'm thinkin its the AFM because it starts up good but it wont hold an idle, even if i try to r3v it up.

I believe you can find the PN on Realoem.com

It came on later E30s like the M3 and 318is iirc... Definitely helps clean stuff up.

Oh and I was workin in my engine bay, and out of nowhere, my charcoal canister pissed at least a gallon of gas.... I know for a fact I have the 3 fuel lines in the right place, so the gas came out of the evaporation line. Anyone know why? I'm glad this didnt happen while i was welding. It did it about 4 times throughout the day.
