Ok thanks for the info. I remember the highest point was my AFM, which barely nudged the hood, but with megasquirt I dont need it. I might have to relocate the TB to the other side of the intake anyway to run a decent front mount ic.

      Awesome job you did there.

Did the E23 downpipes cleared neatly from the mounts and the frame, or did you have to modify them ??

Thank you. They were e32 manifolds and downpipes, and they fit without modification. They are for sale if you want them.

          Thanks for the info Joe,

Unfortunately, I am really only at the beginning of the project.
Alos I am in France, where lots of junkyards are full of all big BMW's so it might not be required.

What manifold do you have noi in replacement to the E32 one ??

          Cheers / Pierre

Do you mean why am I getting rid of it? I am adding a turbo with a new manifold.

you know, ive been searching and digging around, looking for info on this swap, as i'm about to tear into a project like this with my vert.. i come across this shit, and i'm fucking appalled at the lack of consideration for the person who undoubtedly spent a ton of hours, working out these mounts.

what, because you have to spend a few hundred bucks, and wait a few weeks, it makes it "ok" to just rip the guy off?

it is pathetic, and disgusting, that a group of car enthusiasts dont see fit to look out for one of their own. someone who busted his ass to make something which makes your life easier, just because its not convenient.

ive been a victim of this "take what you want, give nothing back" mentality, and to tell you the truth, it fucking sucks.

in the same thread where someone says the seller is a great guy you have someone whos looking for "blueprints" of the mounts, so he can fucking publish them on the internet.

shame on you inconsiderate selfish assholes.

I understand where you're coming from, I own a design/manufacture type business myself...That said, mounts aren't exactly patentable - you can get the same dimensions by positioning the engine where you want and measuring from there. I bought my mounts pre-made, and I consider that I paid for his time in machining and welding, more than design.

I think something like ripping a tuner chip off is much, much worse.

well, thats the thing.. the guy went through the trouble of positioning the engine, which is a bitch, if you dont know where to start... you know?

he made something to make our lives easier. he is repaid by getting ripped off.
im in the business of design and manufacture of tattoo equipment. a lot of what ive developed over the last 10 years has been cannibalized to become the "industry standard", and now countless suppliers are employing my methods and designs, without even knowing from whence they came.

i think the developer of these mounts should be shown the appreciation and support of the e30 community, and not shat upon, simply because he lives overseas. if he lived in portland, or chicago, and the mounts were easier to obtain, i doubt so many would be eager to rip him off.
perhaps getting him set up with US distribution would be an answer.

i dunno. this whole thing makes me really upset. there's literally a manufacturer in china who is now not only reproducing my stuff, but putting a copy of my signature on it as well.

and, by setting the precident that this is "ok", it opens the door for people to copy tuner chips. nothing is sacred.

we should be protecting each other. not fucking each other.

Here are a few "before" pictures of the turbo install. They arent as exciting as good and tights but it's a start :)

                    Pile of turbo parts.

Engine bay after half ass clean. Removed everything except the fuse box. I'm still deciding on a spray painting the engine bay or taking the whole car as is to a paint shop and getting it fully repainted. By deciding i mean waiting for money.

Are you planning on just using stock injectors? GnT didn't really specify if he upgraded to 42lb or what, i can't imagine stock is good for turbo'd power levels.

I'm probably gonna get 28lb ones.

Good and Tight is running 85lb injectors:o

I'd say 28 is too low, run 30lbs at the minimum (that is the injector size TCD uses on their kits)

Well Good and Tight is insane, haha. I have a smaller and older turbo, and 28lb injectors will keep me from upping the boost, in turn keeping me from blowing up my soon to be daily driver.
