acc power means the power that's distributed throughout the car with 1 click/turn of the key in the ignition. Such as the radio, lights, stuff like that.

Oh, duhhh. Haha, what does that have to do with the ecu?

Also what position did everyone use that allowed them to use the stock ds.

If you use the stock e30.de type II (e34/e34 engines) mounts, I used the position II and it fit, but didn't have that much driveshaft spline contact. It worked, but i didn't feel very confident.

Since i found it very difficult to fit the engine in position III, I drilled a hole in the middle of the two holes (position 2.5) and the engine fits more than a half inch farther back, the driveshaft fits much much better (stock 87 325e or 88 supereta DS), and the new engine position allows (3/4") breathing room between the radiator and the igniotion distributor unlike it once was in position II.

But it's more than position with the driveshaft. It's also the input flange diameter. You need the bigger flange which was coincidentally offered on the two models i just mentioned. you CANNOT use the 325i driveshaft. The tri-hole input flange was too small to fit on the output flange on the M30 tranny.

I had mine in position three, getting the drive shaft on was a little tricky but doable

And which driveshaft / combo did you use?

Is the 325e the right size and everything, or is a front half from an automatic necessary?

As long as the front half has the larger flange on it to match the M30 tranny.
                      BUT
I hear that the automatic driveshafts have different mating surfaces, so it may not be eligible.

The auto tranny/ driveshaft has 4 bolt holes, the 5 speeds have 3.

Don't whine - I paid $250 for a e30 m3 shaft, then anoter $400 to have it shortened, rebalanced and rebuilt.

well you either need the 87 eta drive shaft front half and the whole drive shaft rebalanced, Or swap the tranny flange to the smaller m20 one and eat guibo's for breakfast, or cut down your m30 drive shaft and have it balanced.

FYI the larger flanged m20 drive shaft only came on the 87 model years and only from a certain production date on. No other m20 equipped e30's have the larger flange

So do you mean only on the 87 325e or on all 87 e30s
