Then again, I have a stock firewall, and a G280, so, maybe that doesnt help.
I pulled the tranny attached to the engine out of the top of the car with a rented engine crane. It's not that hard, just takes patience and some elbow grease. I had a G265 btw.

No modified firewall. I just had the car really high in the air (like 2 feet) and had the engine/tranny at a very steep angle (at times, it was like 75 degrees i believe) And the crankshaft pulley JUST BARELY fit inside the radiator subframe as I leveled the angle to finally position it. It was not easy, but dooable.

Yea it is quite an angle, but it really isn't hard, I prefer that over dropping the subframe.

Without the trans attached, we were able to pull the motor in and out in a matter of minutes. This was key for those motor mounts. I kind of wish that I had used a later model b35 though, since those are the mounts that are needed for the better engine IMO

So I could just unbolt the tranny. Remove the motor out the front first (taking everything off the front) and then remove the tranny from the bottom. That would solve all the problem.

I can't see taking the motor out the bottom though (obviously its been done by you guys). When the car is on the jackstands, have you guys dropped the motor out from the bottom? I couldn't see much room being under there. I have a motor crane aka cherry picker and will be removing that way out from the top.

Ill have pics up today. It will be at 6:00pm so the fun will begin there.

              Let the adventure begin!

You would need to fully remove the trans, there is not enough room to leave it bolted in and divorce the two...

You can try to remove it all at once... it is said it can be done, so that would definitely be your easiest route.

I got here home just about 2 hours ago. Most of the electronics work but the motor won't turn over. The trucker got a new battery, he said it worked and when he got it on the trailor is quit after a few feet (thanks God it was on the trailor).

Can anyone tell me what this motor would be out of? I want to get a bently and start getting gaskets and stuff for it. It looks different to many of yours. Can you see anything wrong by just looking at the pic?

Intake has been removed already so no flaming haha

                  Thanks

I was under the impression that the trans needed for an m30 swap, whether you use the g265 or the g280, have a removable bell housing. So you could take the gear box off of the housing and leave the bell on the motor.

Oh, and congrats DJ, you are doing the right thing with this car. Glad to see you are turing it around for the better.

No. There is a great break down of the motors on this euro site. Let me see if I can find it for you.

                                thanks for the help.

Since I have a gen 2 motor, does this make anything harder or easier? Broad question but if its the same as all the others I will be able to follow most of the steps about the M30 on the board.

That link is basically telling me that I have the weakling of the bunch. I guess I will have to turbo the thing down the road (way down the road)
