A headgasket set has ALL of the little gaskets you need. (valve cover gasket, exhaust/intake manifold gaskets. Remember to get new head bolts.

-New clutch (kit)- Get one for what you are going to build the car for
-Flywheel 533/M5/M6 If you need one, I have one.
    -Rear main seal
-All new shifter bushings - Appox $65 at the dealer?
-Short shift lever. I have a stock E36 M3 lever and it is golden, Not notchy at all, but still precise. This will also help mask any minor issues with placement.

    Hmmm what else?

I am going to order the headgasket set then. I would get the rear main seal and all new shifter bushings but I don't know what tranny I am running yet, so that will have to wait. The other bad thing is, I don't think I can afford a clutch kit just yet, I am trying to do this car while saving for next years college tuition so I need to watch it.

So I am going to do
      headgasket set
      rear main seal
      all new shifter bushings
short shift lever (e36 M3 stock lever)

Why are you replacing the headgasket ?

No mention of it beng blown in this thread or the other thread .

If its not blown then I would do all of the seals and check the vacuum lines but leave the HG alone .

Oh and don't forget the engine ground strap when pulling that beast out .

Well I was told by the PO that the car ran hot and that the HG was to blame but yesterday I discovered that there was no coolant in the resivour (sp?) so I hope there was some in the radiator.

This is what I have on order but can change in the today if necessary:
            HG set
            e28 head bolts
            oil dipstick

I am used to old muscle cars but how do our cars time themselves, I know they have timing belts and chains but what do I have to do to keep the timing the same..don't really want to mess with timing the car.

            Thanks
            DJ

If this is a race car might want to look at ARP head bolts for the M30 I know Todd has some in stock. ARP head bolts arent stretch bolts so you can reuse them over and over.

it comes with all the gaskets below the head gasket. Like lower timing cover gaskets, oil filter gasket, front/rear main seals, oil pan gaket, stuff like that. It's a good to replace that stuff while you can.

BMA. The top was 105 the bottom was 55 the dipstick was 16

Bavauto has the top at like 160 or 170 so the 105 is a great price

I am going to wait on the head bolts but I might go with the ARP. Is there any where online that has them? I looked on ARPs website and they only list for the mini

You cannot use the 318 driveshaft... which trans are you going to use?

There is a guy on mye28.com that is selling a set of ARP studs. I dont know how much he wants for them or any details, I just saw that there was a thread in the FS section...

He wants well over $200 I believe... Definitely NOT worth the money unless you are going with some serious boost.
