BUMP...I am having a problem bleeding my m30.

I am not getting any heat out of the vents.

Is my plumbing correct? Is my heater core shot? WTF! It's pissing me off...any other tricks or advice?

EDIT: I filled it all the way through the expansion tank, once I could not fill it anymore I unplugged the hose to the upper radiator and began filling there all while the bleeder is open and the heat blasting and the car running...still nothing. I can't put anymore fluid in because it just comes out the expansion tank. I squeeze the thermo hose and I can get the thermostat to sputter but no coolant comes out on its own.

      My 2 second diagram...it's crude I know

Dont these have the bleed screw setup like the E30's do? With the t-stat on top of the motor?

If so-- Park car on an angle with the nose up. Crack the bleed screw. Fill the coolant reservoir until coolant runs out where the bleed screw is. Run car with heat on until you get heat. Make sure you get heat and car doesnt get hot. It should be sufficiently bled at that point.

            Completely ignored it.

My post was a general how-to for coolant system bleeding. I was in a hurry, and didnt have time to figure out your crude diagram and help solve your problem, whatever that may be.

Switch the coolant lines on the heater core. It might have a check valve inside so it flows only one way.

Do you have the expansion tank hooked up on the correct port?

two ports on the coolant tank. one goes to the radiator, one is an overflow...

im having a similar problem, but my car is cooling fine, but i have no heat...

i have an M30b34, and the hose that is coming out of the back of the head is going to the upper line on the firewall for the heater core.

the lower line on the fire wall, is going to a T that connects the overflow tank and the thermostat housing.

                        is this backwards???

EDIT: Switched the hoses on the fire wall today, that go to the heater core, and now i have heat and everything is working great!

To the OP i think you have the same issue. Should be top house to the front of the car and bottom to the head...

Oh...yes they are hooked up correctly, I think. My diagram has the entire layout minus the small overflow hose.

Speedhop, Ibelieve you have a couple hoses wrong. Go back to the first page and look at the diagram there. The middle hose coming from the t-stat housing should be going to the overflow and heater core. And the hose on the right should be going to the top radiator and the heater core.

For those interested, my hose layout is correct. The diagram sucks balls...but oh well.

I had some major bubbles that needed to be correctly bled. I got it to work fine, but like a dumbass I opened the filler cap and I am back to square one. Case and point...bleed the shit out of it, then bleed it again. :/
