No. It may be possible, but everything for the dash, mirrors, door locks, lights etc will be different and I suspect it will be a LOT more work than you want. You can use the engine harness and splice it into the factory 318i chassis harness and that will save a lot of work. If you need chassis wiring find an old 325i or 325e to scavenge that stuff out of. You might even find complete harnesses on ebay, I got one for my 6 for $25.

Yes, you can use the m30's engine harness... And if the m30 was originally auto you can use that harness aswell.

If you don't plan on selling the old 4 cylinder with the engine harness, cut you square L-Jet c101 plug off it and use that to run the wiring off the m30 engine harness, means nothing on the chassis side gets cut and it stays original looking.

Hmmm..well everything is pretty much stripped out..so the factory 318i chassis harness is gone. Basically it's just a shell. I don't have to worry about the central locking and power sunroof or power window because everything is manual. I guess I can just use the whole harness off the manual 535i. The fusebox, the gauge cluster and all that jazz?
          Thanks for the help!

lol. We weren't talking about the entire chassis harness? D'oh! I vow to stop drinking and posting... tomorrow.

Edit: Apparently this guy is... ^^^

NO. The fusebox, cluster, etc, is all different in the E34. It is a can of worms that I doubt you want to open. Just use the engine harness and call it good. My sobriety still starts tomorrow.

              +1
Don't worry about using the e34's fusebox... There is no need, Just rewire the engine harness plug at c101 it's much easier.

So what's the latest on wiring the m30 into an early m10 car? I guess this would be the same as wiring an m20 into as they are basically the same?

Jean, just convert your car to accept the M20 harness, which is essentially matching colors...

That's basically what I was thinking too. I'll grab the ends of m10 and m20 harness at the yard next time and see what I can come up with.

With my b35, it wasn't a problem. I'm sure the b34 would be the same.

May sound easier said than done, but the wiring is more or less matching colours! GL.
