    Going to look at a 633CSi tomorrow, has a low-miles M30B32 with L-Jetronic management (I think).

    Questions:
    Does the 633 come with a getrag 260/5 or a getrag 265?
    Does it have bellhousing sensors?
Does it have a 3.46LSD? It has some sort of LSD, but I'm not sure if it's 3.25 or 3.46.

Looks like I'll need both an E24 and an E28 ETM.

Went to look at the E24 today. Still no idea about the diff (it was in a bunch of grass and hard to get under), but the management system is Motronic 1.0 basic with a 008 ECU. There are bellhousing sensors, but I don't know what model the tranny is, specifically.

If the owner says "the trans blew" and there's no shift pattern to be felt, is it likely that the linkage just kerploded, or can something inside the M30 trans break to do this?

Additionally, do the B32 and B34 blocks have their engine mount locations in the same place?

Do you know where I can locate an E28 ETM? I'm going to be using my ETA Motronic 1.0 harness with an 059 ECU, might as well check the wiring I'll need to do.
I have a copy of the e28 ETM. I can email it to you if you want.

The M30B34 (and B35) ICV wires directly to the computer. The M20B27 (and M30B32) goes through the green box, and IIRC, some other signals go through there too, so it will be much splicing and screwing around to get it to work. PM me your email addy. I'll see what I can do about the ETM.

this is right i believe, both should have reference sensors on the bell housing and up front

and about it being quiet, its fine thats not the issue. Its going from the amazing sound of that motor be loud, to not being able to hear it at all... i drove it for 3 months with just about no exhaust its sounded so mean

You can probably use it with an M30B32 as they have the same type of Motronic. If you had an E30 Super eta (1988 ) you might be able to use your harness with an M30B35 from an E32/34 as they have the same type of Motronic (you may have to lengthen a few wires.)

What's so bad about quiet? As long as the pipes are fine, I can just lop off the stock Bosal muffler and put on something nice later on... I have dreams of a B&B Triflo sitting where the spare tire well currently is.

Euroshark, thanks for the help. Informative and useful comments as always :D

Anyone know if the M10 trans from an '84 318i has an OD fifth gear? I have found several different sets of gear ratios online so far...

The stock exhaust will flow fine for a 3.2. Single 2.5" ID pipe is actually more than adequate for the 3.4.

As long as you are using the correct harness and associated parts (AFM, ICV, sensors) the 059 ECU should do a great job of running a B32.

    next round of questions:

Will a stock 325i exhaust system choke a stock M30B32?

Can you run a B32 on an 059 ECU, chip tuned for B34, and Motronic 1.0 harness? (afaik B32 used a different ECU...)
