So this must be it, the rectangular C101... it's modular so that's good . I'll just grab another from a parts car and see if I can make a m10 to m30 adapter instead of cutting the engine or chassis harness.
I used those same wiring instructions. I think the only area he doesn't address quite right is the green wire on the C103 which feeds power to the ECU at a pin that I don't remember the number to... lol. Otherwise, very good instructions. You should be able to make an adapter pretty easily. Does your engine harness have the round plug? I made an adapter with an E30 plug and a rectangular plug from my 6 to keep everything looking neat. You can see the top of it here:
Thanks for the info! I haven't rec'd the b35 harness yet, I assume it will have a round connector on it...
Looking a the rectangular c101 (until 1985 models) it's a 19 pin connector with only the following pins being used.
1 d+ for alt charge indication
2 sta oil level static
4 FT coolant temp transmitter
6 15s power supply with ignition turn on - fuse protection
7 EP electric fuel pump
8 50 power while starting
10 15u Power supply with ignition turned on - wire w/o fuse protection
15 dyn Oil lever dynamic
16 Ol Oil Pressure
17 SI Service indicator reset
Scored two main b35 radiator hoses today at $3 each.... still need to get the right radiator though.
List of items still left to get
radiator
water pump
t-stat
bottom radiator hose
short water pump/tstat hose
e34 overfill tank (i think that's the route I want to go with over m20 overfill tank)
As in getting it to physically fit or coolant lines? I figured going with e32/34 tank would require least modifications to the coolant lines, but I don't have an engine in the bay yet.
For the coolant lines it is probably the best option. To make the tank itself fit though, I had to cut most of the little studs off the firewall, cut the lower support bracket off the tank itself and notch the support under the hood.
All in all it wasn't too much work, but its nothing like using an e30 one.
Alright, so the 5speed E34 m30 harness I had was missing a couple connectors. I was able to figure out what they were and going to solder/splice them in today/tomorrow. I had a spare half of the m30 harness that came with my engine and it had those connectors on it....
Now to figure out if the e28/e30 c101 plugs are the same or different?! ARGH
