No idea. My 3.25 was from a 88 535i 5 speed with the winter package.

Ok, so with the m30b35, G265 and a 3.46 diff ratio 1st gear is stupid short. though I've gotten use to it and isn't so bad. at 100km (about 60mph) I'm doing 2500rpm.

Thought I might let you guys know lol.

What ratios did m30 come with factory?
        auto's were the 2.93,
        5 speeds were 3.07, 3.25....
        IS cars were 3.73...
the 3.46 and 3.64 were from the e23's I think...
        3.91 in there too...

        I have had the 3.07, 3.25 and 3.73's...

Someone posted that they had a 280 and 3.46, that or 3.64 would be perfect for highway and for pickup I think...

        strictly highway, 3.07-3.25

        stoplight to stoplight...3.73-4.10

but I really loved my 280 trannie...

with the 260 mit 3.73, you 're shifting before you get across the intersection...
but I didn't mind it really...it is quick though...

FWIW, most trannies are stamped 262,
I don't know why, but there isn't really a way to tell by the part number stamped on them...

you have to use the shift pattern, bellhousing, cooling fins or outside case markings to identify the trannies...

262's and 265, have the 2 piece bellhousing...shift pattern differentiates each,
260's have the cooling fins on the bottom,
280's are about 1-1.5" longer near the tail of the trannie case

3.46 and 3.64 in europe were used in different model alpina 335i's both lsd and both with the sport (dogleg) tranny
