Can a little Oil overfill cause leakage?

Car had no oil leaks. I changed the oil, fill to top line on dipstick, and now it appears to be leaking from the oil pan gaskets pass side.
The oil pan gaskets were replaced in 10/2019 and < 3000 miles ago. Car has lived in Santa Barbara, CA.

You could have spilled some when removing/installing the oil filter. Clean off all the oil from top to bottom and see after driving if you can find a leak or a run. Could be a gasket or could be just spilt oil.

If not a spill from adding oil it's likely a leak at the chain tensioner or timing case, but never rule out the pan gaskets. As suggested, clean and monitor, but generally look for a source above the area.

Poster above, M42s have the filter in a canister on the DS.

One of the most common leak sites is from the o-ring where the oil filter housing's clean oil outlet installs into the timing case to feed clean oil into the engine. Oil that leaks there can easily seep all over the place, and even make the passenger side wet.

The other common leak is right under the timing chain tensioner where the front and rear rubber profile gaskets meet. It is very difficult to seal well, and can let oil weep down all over the passenger side.
