just replaced my m42. issues! can anybody lend me some advice?

    so does that mean the vavles are bent due to the chain jumping? or that i can just somehow get the cam back to where it was?

      You need to replace all of the bent valves.

      Your cam thought it was the intake stroke and your crank thought it was the compression stroke. I don't know how else to explain it.

      Look at the picture above and explain how you think retiming the engine is going to fix your issue.

        well, still does ot sound good, the majority fo the cars I have owned in the past few years are interference engines, meaning, the valves cant go down when the piston goes up
        cam and crank timing are critical
        I think that is what you are looking at

          VALVES ARE NOT BENT!!! thank the lord. tested compression...was good. put new plugs in, still not good. swapped spark plug wires 3&4...AND GUESS WHAT?>!>?!? she fires up and purrs like a kitten! im so glad it was not valves. now my life is not ruined!

              confucking grandulations...good thing the thing was fuckerd on the plug wires, imagine the damage you could have caused had the motor ran well otherwise...with a sloppy cam chain.

                the m42 gods must have had nothing to do that day.

                next time, do research first. anyone knows not to swap a recently bought used engine in without a minor tune up and inspection of components.
