    No start, stranded.

So, this morning I see as I have almost no tank left in the car. I put 2 or 3 gallons in, and drove it about 20 miles. On my way home, it starts choking, and dies. I coasted it to a stop. Tried starting, choked, and died again. AAA came over, gave me another 4 gallons. Started, then choked and died again. Now car won't start at all. He hit my gas tank with a metal rod a few times, it started, choked, and died again. Smelled a burning scent, and a loud screeching from under the bay. Anyone have an idea of what's going on? I am hoping it isn't my fuel pump. I checked Fuse eleven: ok. Is there a relay that I need to check? If so, which one? I'm pretty stressed at the moment, as I need the car later in the week.

If you tried starting the car with no gas, you may have messed up the fuel pump. As for the loud screeching under the bay, IDK about that.

yeah i'm scared that that's the case.
I'm scrambling right now to find the pump's relay, just to eliminate that variable.

check your relays.. Main relay and Fuel Pump relay. It could also be the crankshaft position sensor..

X2, but if it sputtered, not all that likely to be the CPS.

haha, you've lost me. I don't even know what a crank shaft position sensor is.
Can you guys please tell me where these relays are? I have come up dry on trying to find any kind of diagram [thanks bmw owners manual!] I just finished taking apart my rear seat. Located the pump and on the pass. side....is that the filter on the driver's side?

it's located underneath the large plastic cover on the top of the firewall. The one in the middle is the fuel pump relay. Right one is the main dme relay, left one is O2 sensor heater relay.

take a look at here for info on CPS and no start issue: http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5462

fuel filter is located on driver's side on top of the rear wheel.. just go underneath and you'll see it.

just remove that long black plastic piece, relays are there:

alright guys, think we've ruled out the relay. I replaced the middle relay like you said, still no start. Now, I hooked up my meter to the pump. and the cable running to it. pump-51 ohms, and 12, 4 for the 3-hole plug (outside, then inside, and one outside).
Now, what should be my next logical step?

I replaced the relay, in the MIDDLE of the 3 relays on by the wipers. Which other ones should I check/replace?

hookkay. So When I crank it, the cable going to the pump shoots me 12 volts. Good. And the pump shows as open. Any help?

I've read a few other threads on here from a few of my searches. Do you guys think this is that serious, i.e: internal? I'm have my fingers crossed that its not.
