It's noticeably shorter than the 4.10, and my gas-mileage has gone down a tiny bit.

It's a really nice diff for the city.

I have 427 LSD and drive 90% in the city. Good rig for this type of driving but highway performance is so so 4k rpm at 120 kph gets to you after a while. Since I added a supercharger the 427 would not be my first choice but it is fun, every time you touch the throttle on the highway the boost comes on and fuel consumption, well let's not go there. I think a 391 LSD woul be the cats ass for a boosted m42.

I switched my leaky/whiny 4.10 for a fresh 4.27. I love the difference in pulling power. As weird as it may seem I am getting a little better MPG's now on the highway (34mpg) in my 91 318is. It seems where before I was having to press more gas to keep a steady speed up now the gearing matches the engine better and allows the motor to take a break even though it is revving just a little more.

I want to swap in a 4.45 next. I mainly use the car for short bursts and drifting now and the M42 will eventually be getting built to rev higher and harder. It will be a nice mate to the little motor for keeping the tire spinning!

4.10s getting ready to swap in 4.27s. Glad to hear about mileage jump and of course pulling (every little bit helps)
