    Idle Temps?

What temp should the engine get around, mine is about 1/4th of the way on the temp guage, but I have never let it sit more than 10 minutes, and my heat isnt super warm. Maybe I will let her run for awhile tonight and see where it goes, if it doesnt warm up good, maybe a coolant flush is in order? And check the thermostat!

Mine would barely climb out of the blue but the heater worked like a charm. I put a new thermostat (88*c cheepo from pelican) in so I'll see if that changes anything. I'd bet it's the gauge that is off not the engine temp.

If I were you I'd do a coolant flush. My car was full of that green shit and I'm sure it hadn't been changed in a while. Given that most breakdowns happen due to a cooling system failure a jug of BMW Blue and some time is well worth it. Make sure you drain the block, I couldn't believe how much more came out.

mine sits at 1/4, if I idle for 5 minutes + it climbs another 1/8 but the heater is always hot.

With an 88C thermostat, it ranges from 3/8ths to just to the left of the halfway mark.
