    i was thinking about using this zip tied over a ram pipe/and closed box

        i ment only because i want something closer to the grills and farther from the engine and with a cone filter the size and shape dosent allow that

          Oh i see what your saying. i kinda did that w/ mine. i took a peice of exhaust tubing which had a bend in it and used that to place the filter on top of the abs module. Ill post a pic of it in a sec.

              Actually its just the sideways, and sits on the abs thing. Sorry i dont have a pic of the actual tubing in there. If you need i can go out and get a pic

                  Yep, 10 degrees. But my air box was missing the rubber boot thing that goes to the headlight shield, so it was sucking in hot air anyway.

                      I don't have a 318 but this is my intake its pretty loud works well for me.

                        I'm running Megasquirt, which has an intake air temp sensor. Mine is mounted basically right in front of the throttle body.

                            Like all have said. The sound is nice but there needs to be an addition of an airbox. Unless you buy one pre made it is kind of a pain to make decent looking and functional box. Here is what I am putting together now. Mocked it up with cardboard and then going to cut some aluminum and then weld it together and paint with some paint that has heat shielding properties.

                              I have a Aem dry flo filter its better than K&N...heat sheild, with drivers highbeam removed. works for me, and sounds good, although i cant hear it over the exhaust anymore. lol

                                i put a k&n on and it quieted the exhaust down abit no so much drone now
