    Interesting coolant issue

new issues look down a few posts.vvvvvvvv

Alright so what would cause both hoses from the radiator to the thermostat housing to be ice cold after running for 8 minutes and the temp gauge is just a little above normal operating temp?

    Quick background
    Vehicle been stored since November
Just finished replacing thermostat, water pump and all associated gaskets.
    New fan clutch
    New hoses
    New BMW coolant
Bunch of other engine work but that is all tha was replaced that dealt with the cooling

I would rebleed but the issue is before the coolant level begins to drop the temp gauge hits the next line after normal operating temp and I decide to kill it.

Sounds like your water pump isn't working or you are really low on coolant.

Let motor get cold, fill to COLD line on resovoir, start car, turn on heater etc, bleed car, then recheck, if that does not help...

maybe somehow you put your thermostat backwards?

Alright so now the upper radiator hose is nice and toasty and so is the left side of the radiator. However the right side of the radiator is cold and so is the lower radiator hose. Before I started bleeding the system again I rechecked the thermostat was working and installed correctly both are alright.
The temp. gauge stays right in the middle now, but I still have no heat. I have been bleeding the car for the past few hours, aka 10 minutes here then an hour later another 10 minutes. I am bleeding it with the front of the car on jack stands to help with the removal of air.

              Any clues?

                Mine's been doing this INTERMITTANTLY!

The sheer number of cooling system anomalies experienced with our cars continues to blow my mind. There should be a bleed screw on top of the fuckin' TB heater plate. Shit.

mine did the same...i dont know what fixed it but i flushed the system, replaced the thermostat, and replaced the temp sensor on the radiator, then the bleed screw on the radiator and it fixed everything.
