I don't have an M42, but if I did, I'd want to keep it totally stock. The car is nearly perfect as it is. Okay, so it's really slow, but that doesn't stop it from being fun.

Love the M42.. peppy, fun to wind out, yet very easy to back off and get 30+ MPG in the city.

With that said.. waiting for mine to blow up before I swap.

My previous e30 had an s50 in it. It was incredible. Now i have an m42 and at first i thought, oh no...this sucks! With some time gone by ive gotten to enjoy the little guy and no longer hating it. I think if i want more power im going turbo before i go swap.

Where is the handling and light weight. That is why I keep mine. If I were to do a swap it would probably be to an all alloy E90 2lt N43 with 170hp oh yeh!

s15 sr20 is easily capable of 300+ reliably..variable valve timing.. all aluminum. much better and cheaper (around 2500-3500$) of a power plant imo.

True but I am not a big fan of mixing brands

After being tossed around in a 600whp X5M all week, I want MO POWAH! But considering it gets 9mpg combined, I'll keep mine lol.

Agreed, i think most people would answer MPG, and its not on the poll. I often throw around the idea of swapping an S50 but at a huge cost to my wallet and then a constant bigger drain once its complete.

its not as bad as you think young jedi.

i have a parts list somewhere at home that makes the process relatively easy.

BUT, enough talk about 24v...I definitely want to get another m42 powered car and turbo it. Those things can tear it up on the track.

Ya I should start collecting parts to turbo mine. Just love the lack of weight up front!
