    Transmission and Diff Fluid

    hey,

I was doing a little search and I couldn't get a straight answer on what fluid to use on my transmission. I been hearing to use ATF, 75w90 gear oil, and redline mt 90. I also heard for the diff use 75w90 gear oil. I'm a little confused of what to buy. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

your trans will take well to a decent atf. I use a redline product. For your diff, it depends. Some run 75-90 others use thicker. dont forget if your LSD make sure to use a friction mod when changing fluids in the diff.

i use redline gear oil on the lsd
and redline mtl on the tranny

the mtl helped a lot, shifts are smoother

Everyone has different opinion I guess. I see that a lot of people are recommending MTL and other are sticking with the ATF

ATF has detergents and is pretty thin. Less loss due to fluid viscosity.

MTL is a little thicker. I think that contributes to the "smooth" shift feeling.

Either is fine. Just get what's available next time you're at the store.

You live in a warm climate, go with Redline MTL. You'll like it better.

Just changed my dif oil about a month ago. No idea when it was done last so figured why not. I used Mobile1 75w-90LS for the LSD. Can't honestly tell a bit of difference from whatever was in it. Trans is up next.
