First of all, are your mounts in good shape? M42's have weak mounts to start with and a set of new ones could raise you up a good .5-.75 inch from worn ones.


Second, all you need to space the mounts up is some washers. Make sure you have enough threads that the nuts will still fully engage and it will be just as safe as stock.

There are problems with spacing them though. The top of the mounts are angled in towards the center of the car. When you space the motor mount up, it will cause the angle that the mounts sit on to go more vertical, putting more stress on the mounts. Also, spacing only the engine mounts will make the engine rotate on the transmission mounts and will put more stress on the guibo. You need to space the transmission mounts up as well so the engine, transmission and front driveshaft angles are the same. You could try spacing the CSB down instead but that's kind of the wrong way to do it.


So, there's no issues raising it except for other parts wearing out faster.

Edit: if you still have the factory fan shroud you can run into issues there as well

Just busted my pan through an ej night skid today, the thing has no support so when it got hit it just bent up into the bottom of the pan and cracked it...

so just having a skid won't always save you, now i'm looking to raise the engine and put some type of bar across the unsupported part of the skid to make sure it doesn't bend again

Peerless skid. I ran into an unexpected construction zone at the unlit bottom of a long hill. Bottomed out the skid plate hard enough that K saw me trailing sparks for a couple hundred feet (she was following).

No damage. :)

what is your suspension???
im running hr sport oe and it has a huge gap in the front
along with bilstein sports and i still scrape the oil pan...thats the main reason why i havent put drop hats on my car i need a peerless skid plate i heard nothing but good things from his skid plate
