Air bubbles in my oil! No oil pressure.

If this didn't work for us, our plan was to drop the lower oil pan, make a small plate with a fitting or nipple in it, bolt it in place of the pickup on the pan, and force oil up into the the pump by using air pressure (low pressure no more than 5-15psi). You'll need a plastic bottle capable of withstanding the pressure and the proper fittings and clamps to make it work. It would be similar to a power brake bleeder.

Once you get that attached, I would crank it by hand for a bit. I would then crank it with the ignition disconnected. You should be able to verify oil is flowing through out the system if it starts to run back out of the pan.

Thanks Rob. I was just messing with it for the past 4hrs and I'm getting nothing.

I might have to rig up something like you said. This is very dissatisfying since I've spend the past 4 weeks replacing every bushing on the car. I should of dealt with the engine before buttoning everything up.

It should not take too long to rig up something if you have the right tools. You'll need to cut the steel plate, drill and tap a hole for whatever fitting you use and rig up the system with hoses and a bottle to force the oil up. I use the air tool quick disconnects quite a bit, along with the proper (3/8" NPT?) tap.

However long it takes, it's a fraction of the time required to get the lower timing case off. The pump is on the inside of that case (between the case and block), so I'm not sure it can even be done without removing the head.

I was thinking of using some reducers to a quick disconnect and threading it into the pickup then giving it around 10 psi while turning it over with the plugs removed. Either way I think I ruined something pretty good.

I wasn't paying attention to the oil pressure and it stalled once.

As much as it kills me to say this, I r3ved myself.

The oil pick up tube was blocked off by left over gasket. All is well now, even though my oil looked like metallic paint!

I guess we'll just wait and see how long it takes till she blows.

Just finished a partial rebuild and changed every seal in this motor.

Look at how new the head gasket still is
