What the hell are you guys hitting that is breaking the Race Skid plate!? Mine has huge scrapes on the bottom and I've never had issues. If you hit something hard enough to break a pan through it, you're going to be replacing a control arm.

My guess is half of you have toasted and sagging motormounts that leave 1/4" of room beneath the plate.

everything on my car is brand new. i think the plate needs to be thicker, maybe no slots, its barely touched my motor

What motor are you running? 24v pans are wayyyy lower then normal and if you slammed on 15's with coilovers you have around an inch between your plate and the ground.

thanks everyone i jus bought my plate from a local offroad pre runner shop and i should be starting it this weekend the drawing thing from iamcreepingdeath should help

i finished mine jus had to put spacers and buy some longer bolts it only cost me like 40 bucs it might not look as fast but it works good ill post some pics when i get it back up on the rack its to hard to get pics of it now

I got to agree with that, my race skid has hit hard a few times and not caused an issue and yes im riding loweered. speed bumps and big rocks ( live on a gravel road) I know it has saved my pan. Before the plate, and car lwoered I had tons of times of fear and some pretty good gouges in the pan, but never broke

motormount statement is true also, with my old mounts I did not have hardly any clearance, newer mounts helped.

the only thing I did not like about the raceskids was the oil drain hole ws not forward enough, so when I drained the oil, I had to put in a old piece of lmetal to act as a funnel , otherwise the oil, when got to a trickle , would go btween the raceskid and the pan and come out at various locations making a mess. grinder fixed that. I had an early version so maybe that has been addressed

part of it is true though m42 and 24v pan sit lower than m20 pan

My friend destroyed his. Saved his pan becuase had his motor spaced up aswelll. But still.

If I were to custom make a plate I would make it out of thicker material and add a support across the front just like the peerless plate (which is fucking awesome BTW)

Buy the Green m5 e28 motor mounts, fill the triangle void with window weld, get a bunch of fender washers and space the motore up untill the intake mani is just about the hit the hood. i daily drive pretty low and dont really avoid bumps and dips like i should.
