hey guy i got a new head and its a bit different then my old one
is this some upgrade thing or what? which one is better?

and the new head has a number 90 on it and the old one has 60

It's a head off an E36 M42, smaller valve diameters as well. Fitment is the same.

Potentially, the smaller valve diameter is less of a disturbance for air flow, as far as the springs I'm not sure if either style is more desireable.

Metric Mechanic 'upgrades' all their e30 m42 heads with e36 6mm valves and guides for weight reduction. I'm not sure about the difference in spring performance although I doubt the e36 setup inferior to the e30 dual setup.

I still have the other heads, I checked and both are dual valve spring E30 M42 heads. But as mentioned the E36 head is the same, or maybe a bit better.

i thought there were holes and dowels that were different? Was just looking for an M42 head today coz the machine shop said mine had a crack.

They bolt right on, I have a E36 head on my E30 block. The temp sensor is different, just use the old one.

I've got two more heads, both are e30 dual spring heads. $150+ shipping in your case.

the two heads are exaclty the same all of the holes and everything but the valve are different.

so im trying to figure out if i will loose performance because of the single valve spring, or should i just go with this one?
