    318is Manual trans fluid

any one has any recommendations on trans fluids? can you actually put in axle fluid? I was looking at 75w90 synthetic axle fluid will that work?

In my g240 I used Redline ATF D4.

It depends what the sticker on your tranny says. It may take 75W90 or it may like ATF. Take a look.

no. all late model g240 transmissions take ATF. none take gear oil that I have ever seen. ever.

you can also run castrol import ATF fluid. it can be found at any local auto parts store. its cheap and works well. I run it in both my daily and my turbo car. both shift smooth, no problems to report

Poop, probably should mention that the sticker thing applies to the g260s.

Same here. I have noticed though that when it's cold outside this stuff needs to warm up a little before the shifts get really sweet.

                    318is.
For the gearbox, use a GL4 Oil.
                    For the differential, a GL5.

It calls for ATF. A lot of people have used 75w-90, or MTL, but i'm a bit leery of it. I put in 1 qt redline D4 and topped it off with some leftover mix of redline MTL and MT90. Works brilliantly. no issues in the cold, hot, etc and its got 220k on it.
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.
