Hi I got a slamming deal on a m42 engine and wiring harness. I wanted to know of this swap has been done before. I have a 84 318i 5spd and wanting to swap in the m42. How difficult is this. I'm familier with wiring and such. Wanted to know if there was a write up some where of someone doing it documenting what was done. Thanks.

I've got the driveshaft with a good pre-87 CSB needed for this swap.what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

Just to clarify, pre 87 CSB's have a different bolt pattern than post 87'. The driveshaft I have is a 91' 318is, with a good CSB, that was used on a 84' 318 with a m42 swap.what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

oh, and search 'c-101' for a lot of helpful stuff on splicing a body harness to an engine harness.
You DID get the engine harness and ECU, right?
(If I had it, I'd swap the body harness too. Probably take only a bit more time than
splicing, and 1/10 the aggro. Plus, you'll find $5 in loose change while you're in there.)
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
