IT LIVES!!! I drove my little bmw for the 1st time today. Its been two years! This thing is loud. Replaced the fuel pump with TRE 340 and it cranked up the very 1st time! I still have a few issues I need to sort out. The fuel pump wont run unless I jump the relay. This may very well be a dead relay but I did not check tonight. I almost ran into a vw beetle because I thought it was in reverse but it was in 1st, lol! drove it around the block once and it started to overheat, I will sort that out later. Will be doing some maintenance such as oil pan gaskets and all new fluids but other than that I am pretty happy right now. One question I have is when I took the intake off my valves looked pretty bad, lots of carbon build up. Would it hurt to scrub it off with a toothbrush and some brake clean/ carb cleaner, or should I just seafoam it ? I also have a intermittent tachometer, any reason sometimes it works other times its just chilling?

Sweet. Nothing like getting your car back on the road. You talking about the throttle body plates? Carb cleaner usually does it. You may have to scrub it with a tooth brush or even a tough napkin. Intermittent tach check your connections to the cluster and the soldered joints. Is your SI board still working?

Ooo ok with the intake manifold off? Same, carb cleaner and tooth brush or small brush that you can get in there.

So today i drove the car an got on it pretty good, not over heating everything other than the Tach is working, I go back and park the car for a few minutes then try to crank it back up. it starts, but as soon as I start to reverse it dies on me. I realize that im probably out of fuel. Go get 2 gallons of premo and the car still wont start. I can hear the fuel pump running. Anything I can do here short of pulling the pump again?

Fuses, relay are the first things. Des it start then shut off, or just cranks?
