    Lol. I had plans on buying another M42 and building it and boosting but that got out in the back burner when I found out my wife was pregnant.
    I am happy for the baby though.

    Read Corky Bell's book. It's cunningly entitled 'Turbocharging'.

    8 psi really doesn't stress the engine any more than N/A
    as long as it's done right

    M42 on boost sounds like fun to me... one of these years...

    The m42 is fine, I mean I have one in my car. I would love to have it turbo'd but personally if I wanted more power, even just a NA 24v can make just as much power, with a smoother power curve. Strictly personal preference.

    There is a lot of info out there for m42 turbo setups. I've even seen a guy running stock internals at around ~8 psi and was still making good power. Make sure you absolutely replace the head bolts, factory bolts aren't meant for boost. And don't don't buy cheap Chinese turbo.

    Check this thread-> http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=224803

    Has all the information I think you'll need. Some members were making custom manifolds and engine management that you might be interested in. Ok I'm done, you're on your own OP

    Best get in contact with Dj Buttchug on here, he did a boosted m42. Check out his build thread
    Why would the M50 or M30 be a better platform for boost? The M42 is just fine and there are many M42 turbos out there.

    M42 Turbo

    So I'm thinking turbo'ing an M42 engine. The only concern I have is the mileage of the car. Its about to hit 200k. I'm thinking about buying all the required parts to make this happen; when the engine its self gives out. Ill look into buying a rebuilt M42. Any opinions about the millage? How long do you think the engine will last with about 8 psi going into it. Will be looking for a clutch that could last the beating before the mods.

    I'm here to learn not to get criticized by Bavarian Nazi's! :nice:
