    OIL filter

Hey guys I was wonder if any of you had a problem find the right oil filter for your e30?
I recently got 1990 318i m42 engine and tried to do the oil change but wasn't able to find a filter that fit...I went to BMW dealership gave vin # and they gave me a filter put was to tall, next they it could be a different one that it listed same problem was to tall... went to AutoZone etc. all were same to tall.

    thanks guys

The one I pulled out only says made in India as shown in the pic below (left the recommended filter based off vin#) (right one I pulled out)

I think the tall one is for M42's with the plastic housing. The short one is for the metal housing. Just order mehle filters from an online source or tell the dealer to get their stuff together. Tell them you want one for the metal housing.

I was thinking the tall one looked a lot like an E46 part...
