Lol. Learning by messing things up is always an option! Heck, we've all done it - I don't recommend it - but it's there.
Find someone local, that can look over things and give you an hour of their time. Buy them a 12 pack. Easy. You'll learn much more. Just my 2 cents.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Seems like a fairly easy restoration to me. Is that a glass moonroof or just a black painted panel. If the former you just paid for your work/swap/whatever.
Depends on the E34, generally not much can be used on an E30, however, it potentially has an M30 engine, which is an excellent swap candidate if you go that route.Comment

its got a sunroof but for some reason its sagging down a little below the roof but I'm not sure how much work it is to adjust and reseal it lolSeems like a fairly easy restoration to me. Is that a glass moonroof or just a black painted panel. If the former you just paid for your work/swap/whatever.

Diesel sound now but coming together
So guys here's a list of what's been done so far (my pockets are starting to hurt and I've got stuck someone help! Lol)..
I've had it in the shop about a month and have replaced literally everything but the damn motor itself..
I've had the head machined, the bottom end has awesome compression so I really didn't touch anything else on the bottom end..., bought new plugs, wires, fuel, oil and air filters, new fuel pump, water pump, thermostat all hoses for vacuum and coolant, belts ,new clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder with new hose, all new rotors, pads, lines and sensors, front hubs and rear bearings replaced... Complete bluntech lemmfoerder suspension overhaul kit underneath with a uuc sway bar kit front and back, new strut mounts all four corners, bilstein sport cup kit (not to happy with the height diffrence) motor mounts, trans mount, idler pulley and changed the main relays that where most important and where available for the time being along with all new fuses...
Here's where my problem is:
I reassembled everything charged it up and start it up flawlessly... It idles beautifully BUTTT..... I'm now getting this dreaded diesel noise from what seems like one of the cams.. It sounds like it's not getting oil to it properly.. I know it's not timing or the belt skipping a tooth because I had a BMW tech friend of mine around when we checked it..and Im positive the valves aren't bent since they where fine when assembling earlier... Could anyone tell me if maybe the wrong oil could be a factor or maybe since its sat so long I should leave it running a little longer to let it lubricate better? I'm lost and no longer have another hand or knowledgable partner to help until he gets back from his trip in a few months... Lifters seem good also btw before anyone bashes me to READ or use the search bar I've searched for days and nothing quit fits my scenario
I've put so much into this car I could have probably swapped by now but I'm hoping that somone has been in this situation and might be familiar with a resolution..Comment

Sounds like you have done a tone of work. I was surprised at how much parts are for this little car so I can imagine the amount of money you've dropped already.
When you had the head machined, was it just decked? Did you have them inspect it for any damage? How did the cams look?
Maybe hook up an oil pressure gauge?
Good luck with it and hope you get it figured out and all is well.Gabe
