Yeah, a gutted cat and leaks would probably do it. Also, yes, welding while laying under a car sucks. There are a few slag holes burned in my coveralls which are reminders of how much I dislike having slag land on me.

When are you receiving that eBay DME?

I have been dealing with some vertigo so haven’t fixed the spots on car yet cause laying down triggers it most the time. hopefully it sounds better when i get it fixed. My dme and ground straps are out for delivery.

I know you checked it (probably multiple times), so it is not likely to be the cams, and if they are off by more than ~10 degrees you will have pistons hitting valves. Still, something about how it sounds when running seems off.

Gonna get a video of it set up correctly and post it to see how often the “missing tooth” happens

If you bought the scope you linked to on the last page then it can export to a datalog file. That would be much better than a video or screenshots

It's just the missing tooth. Usually you'll see the sqr wave drop low for one extra:

or the sine wave will do this:

Well... how often do you see that crank sensor fault? If it's more than once a revolution, it could be dropped signal. It's normal for there to be the occasional lost phase, but if you're loosing sync often it can be caused by an out of spec/bad sensor, or a fault in the wiring that either alters the resistance or drops the signal altogether.

The ECU has a sampling time of a few milliseconds that is usually able to take care of any stutters.
