    race gas for the m42

Can the m42 handle race gas or like 101 octane gas? I was just wanting to put some in to see if it will clean some crap out of the motor and see if it runs a bit better. TIA.

I have put 101 in my m20 before. Im pretty sure it can handle it considering its a much newer and dohc engine.

your are just going to spend way to much money for absolutely nothing.

Swap in 30% bigger injectors and find the nearest E85 pump. It costs $1/gallon less than gasoline and has 104 octane rating.

true the ECU isnt programed to run on that high of octane but the ECU is also a learning computer. If you disconnect your battery after you add it, your ECU will have to relearn everything about the car. Including the octane of the fuel.

To the OP, if you do decide to get some race fuel, disconnect your battery for like 15 or 20 minutes and then reconnect. My buddy and I always do this and then let the car idle for at least 30 minutes so that the computer can re learn everything. Oh and BTW, my friend and I have run 115 octane and the cars were a blast to drive, you just have to give them some time. And no the higher octane wont hurt your motor, just make sure its unleaded and not leaded and you'll be fine. And youre right, it will clean out a lot of the shit built up in there

The ECU does not learn the octane of the fuel.

So I went to fill up with the 110 octane gas, and I see that's it's leaded, who the hell still uses leaded gas? So I guess no race gas for my m42.

You are an idiot. Go get some AvGas. No lead there.

How am I an idiot, because I didn't stop and read the pump before hand? at least I didn't put the leaded gas in, then you would be able to call me an idiot.

No, yer an idiot for thinking that you could go buy some "faster" gas for your car. I bet your a "kid" and don't enen under stand the RON system.

And thinking yer car would take it.

I never asked if I could buy "faster" gas, I wanted to put higher octane gas in my car in an attempt to clean some of the carbon buildup and try to help it run a bit better. My plan was to put half a tank of 101 octane, then half a tank of 93, quit bein an ass to me for bein a new guy on the board and asking a legitimate question.
