325ix rear viscous differential maximum torque

    Hi all,

I got my hands on a 3.9:1 viscous rear diff that I intend to use with an LS swap. Has anyone out there had experience putting big torque to this diff? Is it possible to weld it if it can't handle the torque?

    Thanks in advance.

Swap in the gear set to a typical clutch pack RWD diff case? Welding a diff sucks for anything but drift/drag racing.

Run it and see how it does. What's the worst that will happen? - you will be running open until you find a replacement.

The viscous won't hold ~300lbft of torque.

Thanks for the info! I think I'll just buy a regular mechanical diff. This unit is for sale in the classifieds if anyone is interested!

Is this more cost effective/worthwhile than just getting a mechanical diff?
