I converted my 1991 325i from auto to manual successfully but I have a 4.10 LSD rear end. I want a 3.73 LSD rear end but looking at all the prices for even used ones, it's kinda depressing. What's even more depressing is the cost of a refurbished 3.73 rear end. I was thinking of just buying a new 3.73 LSD gear set and having it installed in the 4.10 case. I need to know if this is an option.

If you have to ask somebody knowledgeable (as you should) to set it, it'll be expensive.

Good 4.10 LSD differentials cost the same as 3.73 differentials.

buy a good used gearset from eBay and swap it in (new gearset will be bulk $$$). I did this earlier this year it is not difficult at all or expensive . There are YT videos showing how to do this. you will need a press though to make your life easy but a cheap one for couple hundred will do the job
