G260 selector rod shaft seal install

Tackling a leak on my G260 for the first time. Selector shaft seal is leaking bad, after about 20 mins of convincing it I finally got it out. My new seal is a different manufacturer than the one I removed so I can’t tell which direction to install it. I’ve attached “photo A” and “photo B” if anyone can help me out. Also, do I need to oil/grease the new seal when installing it?

    New seal is Elring: 327.299

I’ve watched that same video probably 20 times since yesterday. It doesn’t really show what direction he puts it in. Thank you though, I appreciate it.

Your photo A and B don't show up for me.

Yes, lube it up with some oil.

Here is a picture from 2015 where I installed an OEM BMW seal on my G260.

Much better wording, thank you. This is correct.

OP your photo "B" is correct.

I installed it yesterday and it went in smooth, I put it in as shown in photo B. No more leaks and it seems to have tightened up some of the play in the DSSR. Thank you all!
