getrag 240 Swap

i have an 84 318i 5 spd, and the tran is going out, i was guna rebuild it but i heard that its like the hardest thing to rebuild known on this side of the planet, besides getting another getrag 240 will anything else bolt right into the M10

Well...the m10 g240 works with the m30....so most likely the trans behind the m30 will work with an m10? If it fits....well, that's a different issue.

you can bolt a g240 up to an m20, m30, m50, m42...but it's the matter of the drive shaft fitting.

OP, i'm not real sure on 318's but i would assume so. search.

Early 240's have a different bellhousing pattern. This would be the M10, M30, and S14. The later 240 fits the M42, M20, and M5x
