    Decent trans mounts

About 7 years ago (probably 25k miles ago) I installed IE urethane trans mounts and now they're cracked and falling apart. Is this "normal"? Any suggestions for stiffer mounts that will last longer?

The OE mounts last far, far, longer.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

try stock E21 mounts, they are a little more stout have a larger sized bolt. They work great.

PM Silence via Condor Speed Shop, he will get you taken care of for a stiffer mount.

            OEM will work fine.

Is there any benefit to running solid or urethane mounts over oe? The car is slowly transforming from street only to split btwn street and track and there is a chance it will become turbo'd

If the car is primarily a street car that sees occasional track time I'd use OE mounts. Poly is preferred (for stiffness) on a dedicated track or race car and the life of the bushings isn't a factor there as they should be replaced every 3-4 years, along with the control arms/bushings, motor/diff mounts.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks Jim. Last question, use genuine BMW mounts or generic aftermarket?

I personally use the Meyle mounts and haven't seen an issue.

OE or those from the OEM supplier.
