I suspect that what you are trying to tell us is that more engine speed than normal is needed in first gear from a stop. That and the judder is most likely a worn out and slipping clutch.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

given the fact that this happens under certain driving circumstances leads me to think it might be something else? is there a method for me to test the clutch

what about a trans fluid change!? idk when the PO did the last one..maybe this would fix the issues?

One check for a slipping clutch is to put the car in 5th gear at a stop and ease off the clutch. If the engine doesn't stall easily, the clutch is slipping. Of course, getting the opinion of a pro is always a good idea.

The transmission fluid (on a manual transmission) has nothing to do with this.

Check your master cylinder for a loss of pressure; if its going there may be fluid by the clutch pedal area.

also check the slave cylinder; if either are going out it will be difficult to operate the clutch

Hire a friend to pump the master and you watch to see if the slave is moving enough to disengage the clutch

try to use this thing called a search engine; its excellent for improving IQ

Purchasing a thing called a "service manual" would be a very smart idea also; your car will probably need work everywhere

there is this other website called amazon that sells books
