    Worth it?

So I was looking through the Craigs and found a 4.10 LSD. The guy says he got it as part of a deal and say the guy who he got it from claimed that it was rebuilt. Its listed for $190.

My IS still has its stock 3.73 LSD. So my questions are:

Is it worth swapping in a 4.10 LSD? Asking in terms of handling, acceleration, the full package. I'm building my car for the street, but performance is its focus; in other words, if it hurts my MPG then I don't care. I'm not overly versed in diffs and their workings, I just know the ratios and that a 4.10 is going to accelerate harder. If it matters, my car has power goals around 320 (and maybe a little more) crank hp.

Second, is it worth it at that price?

How do you plan to get 320hp? Boost?

I personally am not a fan of a 4.10 gear on even a stock M20B25 car. With boost you definitely don't want that short of a gear.

Price is good if it's actually rebuilt. To be honest, though, a 4.10 would be excessively short with 320hp. Better to go closer to 3.45.

So you're buying it from a guy who bought it from a guy who bought it from a guy who said it's rebuilt? Sounds legit.

I'd stick with the 3.73. I have the G260 with a 3.73 and stock M20 and I think it's perfect. I'm turning 2800rpms at 70mph if that means anything to you.

the 4.10 is great on the track.

I think it'd drive me nuts on the street.

the 4.44 in the 2002 was even less fun... on the street.

But $200 for a gamble on a 4.10 is still a pretty good price...

I've decided to stick with my 3.73 for now. And if you build it properly, you don't need boost. The M20 engine (again is properly built) is capable of that or at least very close to that naturally aspirated. I didn't say it would be cheap.
