    5 speed pedal assembly..

could somebody with an airbag car take a high res pic of their pedal assembly? I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing parts/what goes where. I got the pedals in fine, but the springs for the clutch/brake pedal don't make any sense.

    thanks

Are they different than non-airbag cars?

I know I had my spring completely wrong for the longest time.

If it's the same, I could explain it?

You don't need to replace the pedal box when you add the clutch pedal, do you?

nope, I just took out the auto brake pedal and put in the manual brake/clutch pedals & clutch switch. but I still need to know where the springs are supposed to go..

Right on, thanks man. I am going to try to do this monday.

Are the holes for the clutch M/c there already? I probably need to go buy drill bits...

everything is already there, no need to drill any holes. even the grommet holes in the firewall are there, as are the mounting points for the master cylinder. you might have to cut a hole in your carpet for the clutch stop though, but I haven't messed with that yet.

figured out the brake return spring (pretty obvious once I had the booster back in) but I'm still not sure about the clutch pedal.

realoem shows part #22 as a clutch return spring, I have one from my non-airbag car but I'm not sure how this fits into the pedal cluster.

                      anyone know?

I think there is a grommet (12) that goes into a hole in #1 then the spring (19) goes into that. :dunno

You can see the airbag assembly on the right is much taller than the non airbag pedal box as indicated by my hand.

cut this piece out of the manual nonairbag assembly and weld onto airbag assembly

that's because you have an early style non-airbag 5 speed box on the right, and an airbag style box on the left.

you don't need to swap out the pedal box at all, all you need to do is remove the automatic pedal and install the 5 speed pedals. I'm not sure how exactly the spring for the airbag style clutch pedal is supposed to work, but it doesn't use that huge spring from the non-airbag assembly. I was able to rig something up that works just fine though.

and FYI the airbag 5 speed box doesn't have that peice you are talking about welding on. I bought a complete 5 speed box and it's exactly the same as the automatic box. you only need that if you are using the early non-airbag pedals on your airbag box..
