How do I check for binding in the U-Joints? Mine didn't seem all that smooth when I moved them around out of the car...Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.

As to how to tell if the u-joints are binding...
One diagnostic is a failure of the rubber mount of the CSB. The other is to compare what the u-joints feel like to what u-joints in a new drive shaft feel like. If you don't happen to have access to a new drive shaft or have never felt the u-joints in a new drive shaft, go with the first option. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

My CSB is torn as well. And I get a really bad vibration in the same range as everyone else. My guibo looks good though, it's not cracked at all.
Where could I find a GOOD replacement driveshaft and how much would I be looking to spend.
Also, is the driveshaft u-joint supposed to be easier to flexone way than the other. It flexes one way pretty far and easily, and the other direction not so much and it's harder to move.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.
No need for discretion.

FWIW, I just pulled my driveshaft because the center bearing was torn a few months ago and replacing it didn't help. I was getting a vibration around 2,000 rpm under acceleration.
I ordered a replacement from Driveline Service of Portland.
The old driveshaft had a really tight U-joint in the rear. No play at all, but very hard to move back and forth. I talked to the Driveline Service guys and they said that's the "classic" symptom of a bad driveshaft that will cause that vibration. The U Joint doesn't move, so the WHOLE DRIVESHAFT MOVES!
