GetRag 260 max HP and Torque?? HELP PLZ

Does any one know how many HPs and Torque can the GetRag 260 gearbox can handle?

far more than you're likely to be putting down.

doglegs are supposedly weaker, but I only have anecdotal evidence to back up that claim (IE somebody who told somebody else that they break easier).

260's are stout, remember that 3.5L M30's used these gearboxes.

The dogleg 265 (M3/M535) gearbox is stout, but the small dogleg 245 (323i) is not going to handle a lot of power.

Most importantly, it's going to depend completely on how you drive the car--people kill drivelines, not horsepower. I use a 260 behind my 3.0 M50, and it's been great for 4 years and 85,000 miles of pretty hard use.

A friend of mine has transplanted a gearbox from an m3 e30 to a corolla ae86 turbo with 320+ ps an after a year of really hard drift use nothing has happened to the 'box.

what do people think of this? Says it's rated for 221 lb-ft

torque kills parts much more than sheer hp usually, traction also has a factor in it

I put down 305rwhp with mine. Only issue it has is it pops out of 3rd gear on decel, but I think that has to do more with my shifter assembly than the trans itself...

Are the physical dimensions/bolt patterns anywhere close? Or what makes them share the Getrag model number?
