can't shift while the engine is on (urgent!)

here is the scope of everything

-shifts fine when the car is off

-engine on, can't get into ANY gear AT ALL*** (see lower)

-once you get it rolling, it will shift semi-smoothly, no grinds no noise or anything else!

-When the engine is on, I press the clutch pdl. and try get into first, basically rocking the car forward until it catches and starts going slowwwly. (that's how i got it to roll, it would shift to 5th no problem once up to speed at 70, basically driving fine...)

-When I filled the tranny with mt90, there were no shavings or anything like that!

-The tranny is a getrag 260 from an m20 E34, the output shaft was different, but i mated it with E30 "i" driveshaft no problem (swapped flange and shortened the rod (widened the driveshaft hole). No vibrations at all at any speed.

All the clutch components are new. I've tried using a slave from e34 (m20 car), no change. the floor inside seems to be dry, but I haven't looked at master yet... everything bleeds fine!

The flywheel is single mass and the clutch is single mass also.

I've had a getrag 260 from E30 in it before this one, but that was grinding 3rd and it was driving fine, so I swapped it to this....:(

I would apreciate any help from you guys! I can't pull the tranny untill the weekend, so we can just discuss everything here, any possibilities.

update, I've tried just to see if it will engage.

once the car is on, it doesn't wanna get into first or second at all. It takes a HUGE force to get it into third, less fourth and little force in 5th. Can the tranny be bad? even though under driving conditions it shifts fine? WTF is wrong... I checked master, everything is bone dry...

That really sounds like a clutch that isn't disengaging. The cause could be air in the clutch system, a bad master cylinder, or improper assembly of the clutch.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Oh, one more thing... when you depress the clutch pedal, it sounds like there is a squiking noise coming from the tranny area..

See above... This is a clutch problem, not a transmission problem.

            update!!

Well, if you press HARD ENOUGH, you can get it into first and second, after some driving it becomes a little easier, but still takes a lot of force to get into first or second...

put your car in first and depress the clutch pedal. If the car moves when you try and start it its the clutch

If you keep forcing it in gear, you will harm the transmission. It sounds like your clutch is either empty of fluid or low.

you mean the tranny is either empty or low?

I tried to start it in gear holding clutch pedal down and it started fine, no jerking... I did reseal the tranny and filled it up with mt90... I have a spare mtl quart, so I'll just order another mtl quart, empty the tranny and fill it up with mtl, see if that'll fix it.

the clutch cylinders don't neccesarily leak fluid out of them if they are bad. the seals on the piston can leak fluid from one side to the other internally with no loss of fluid. if you already changed the slave cylinder i would say that the master is leaking internally. yes it is a bitch to change but it is yor best bet

My guess is the clutch disk is backwards, or the wrong one. Oh and quit trying to drive it or it will be a tranny problem.

i had the same symptoms when my clutch master cylinder went bad, no leaking fluid, car shifted fine when moving, when stopped you had to stand on the clutch just to be able to barely jam the stick into first, got progressively worse in about one day until it wouldn't shift at all.

I ordered the master cyl. will see if anything changes after I put it in. The clutch is good as I didn't take it off the flywheel when I swapped the tranny.
I don't wanna harm my baby, so I don't drive it. I drive my dad's car for the moment. I just had to repark it facing nose in the garage, that's how I found out that it goes into gear very hard.
