Auto Transmission Morning Sickness

My 1990 coupe automatic tranny is giving me fits. Transmission will not shift first thing in the morning. If I start the car and let it get to operating temperature, then drive around In first gear for a few minutes. Then shift to 2 then S then D. It will eventually catch and drive like a bat out of hell. I have to follow the same procedure every time the tranny cools down.

I had "morning sickness" on an 89 cabrio when I lived in Charlotte. Standard diagnosis was either the governor or valve body. I had the valve body swapped and that solved it.

Leak appears to becoming from drain fill tube connection to pan. From what I have researched, there is no o-ring at that fitting. So how do I stop the leak. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Seems to me it's a flare fitting w a 22mm nut and it took a fair amount of tightening. As long as the mating surfaces are undamaged it should seal
