How hard is it to swap a 5 speed for an auto?

I've been having a very difficult time trying to find a clean automatic 4 door for my mom in the PNW. She has a back problem so it hurts her to use a clutch. I've found a few nice 5 speeds so the thought of swapping the trans came to mind. Also, since lots of people are doing the 5 speed swap maybe someone has all their old auto parts laying around?

The level of difficulty is about the same for either swap direction. Though it may be harder to find a good auto than it is to find a good 5 speed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

it will be a little harder than a manual since there is a lot more "stuff" involved. Getting the kick down to work properly may be a bitch.. IMO I'd just wait for an automatic or perhaps something other than an E30 (I really doubt your mom is into BBS RS and Mtech kits).

I've got a lot of the parts from my swap just down the road from you. Transmission had about 180,000 miles but worked flawlessly when I took it out.

$100 bucks and you can pick up all of the automatic parts that I have!
