There's no such thing as an "OEM" DSSR - the stock selector rod is single shear, not double shear. (that's what the "DS" in "DSSR" stands for)
Really aside from tightening it up, it should prolong the life of the bushings in the selector rod joint and the shifter itself. The primary benefit of the original single shear selector rod is cost, although these days, that's probably not much of a benefit.
