they look at everything related to air/fuel and exhaust up to and including the cat, needs to be exactly the same as on the donor car/engine.
-
when you bar'd it what do they really look for? and what are some necessary things you would need?

^Yea. I'm with you on that. It would nice to know what is the minimum you'd need to do as far as getting some nice displacement with out that vanos stuff.
stuff I don't understand scares me- ;) Well, it scares my pocket book, I could say.

Well, I don't know if vanos is worth the trouble on the m62.. When I was troubleshooting it on the e39 and disconnected it, car felt just as quick in the mid to high rpm range and was only slightly noticable in the low rpm range. So, to me non vanos v8 is fine.
George - yep, some dyno as much as 270whp... I haven't looked at what options are out there yet in terms of bigger pistons etc. I really don't want to drop 5k into the motor or anything like that, just a nice clean re-fresh/reseal and call it good you know.

Vanos > Non-Vanos any day.

Why not just bore out the m60 and throw in m62 crank/rods/pistons? No head swapping or obd1 conversion junk to deal with.

from moroza on bfc - "you can swap M60 timing covers and gear if you do one of the following bits of custom fabrication: spacers for M60 cams to fit onto M62 heads, or M62-bore headgaskets to mount M60B40 heads onto the M62 block. Otherwise, no."

Yeah, I'll have to BAR it again... since I've gone through the process already it's not that bad.
I've seen those mounts as well, might be able to get something locally first otherwise I'll look more into those..

do you plan on BAR'ing your car? also do you think that instead of making some engine mounts would these mounts be better? http://66.163.168.225/babelfish/tran...p5%2ftyp5.html
Oh yeah and im from Sacramento also what area do you stay? ill be looking forward to seeing this car on the road!

THanks!
I'm looking into doing that, trying to figure out all the problems I'll run into
So far, seems like the cranck sensor needs placed on the front pulley and replacement of the thermostat and water pump.
Good luck with your build, Il'l keep my eye on the progress
