You would get extremely annoyed in a short period of time by the chatter. That's how I ended up with the good deal I got on my UUC flywheel... M5 owner bought it and used it with the OEM non-sprung disc... he had it in for bout 6 months and went back to the dual mass, because of the chatter.
And Justin's right about the take-up... that is strictly reliant on the disc and PP combination...

The dual mass flywheel and sprung hub clutch have the sole purpose of reducing gearbox chatter, they do not effect the feel of the clutch. That is entirely dependent on the clutch disc and pressure plate.
Think about how small those clutch disc springs are. Considering how fast the disc is spinning, and how much the inner piece can rotate in comparison to the outer piece, it's what, 10 degrees? At 5k, or ever 2k RPM's, that's certainly not going to create a noticeable change in the time it takes for the clutch to fully grab. It's just there to take up the harmonics of the drivetrain, and reduce that chatter noise.Leave a comment:

So how would a 265mm jbr lightweight flywheel with a non- spring hub clutch feel daily driving?
Any opinions? I feel that there'd be no smooth clutch transfer. Either "on" or "off" kinda feel.Leave a comment:

PM please with condition/miles of the tranny and price shipped to 95608 or I can get you a business address as well via Fedex Ground. Thanks!Leave a comment:

Yeah...530 5spd, but auto harness. I'm hanging on to my manual one ;)Leave a comment:

Factory dual mass.
However, I've found that I have collected most of two swaps without really realizing it...and I can't be storing a motor right now.
Would anyone be interested in an m62 from a wrecked e38 with all accessories, wiring harness, expansion tank, 404 DME, m42 tach plug, e34 v8 booster, ZF 5spd and linkages?Leave a comment:

Well that sucks. you're right, there's not much room there at all :(
At least the angles are better with the e34 rad... you don't have a 90 degree bend to do within 3" or so like you do when the filter is directly behind the rad inlet.Leave a comment:

Is anyone actually using the e34 540i radiator with notched frame rails?
I'm really not liking some of the upper rad hose concoctions that I'm seeing with e36 radiators. Some people build a hose out of 2, 3, 4 different hoses, some people use metal pipes, etc... They are all tight fitting, look like crap, and would be a PITA to replace/repair.
Seems like notching the frame rails may be the proper thing to do when using the engine-mounted oil filter housing. Can anyone confirm that you can use the stock e34 rad hose with the stock e34 radiator, without interference to the oil filter housing?
I've already cut and welded half my car, so I'm really not concerned about a little notching... unless there is a specific reason NOT to do it?I hear you... I don't think I ever bolted the filter housing to the motor in my radiator mock up, but if the hose fits in an E34 and you place the radiator close to the same spot in the E30, there should be no issue with it fitting. Plus, you could use the factory E34 shroud and fan, or sub the engine driven fan with an electric puller in the factory shroud. I have re-vamped my rad/shroud/fan setup in mine already and it wasn't even done yet, lol. Notching the frame is not a big deal for the rad and it guarantees the radiator will cool the motor. I think the Z3M rad is all you would need as well, but depends on the budget. I have a E34 V8 rad if you are in need of one...

The oil filter housing will be on the way, anyway. The reason for that is, that the engine sits "too close" to the radiator (there won't be space for fan between rad & engine).
Here's picture of my friend's E30 V8 with E34 radiator;

I solved the problem with a custom radiator;

So there are many options :) In both cases original radiator hoses were used (along with couple of steel-bends)..Leave a comment:
